Not less than 13 passengers sustained severe accidents, whereas 11 others suffered minor wounds, following a collision between a Sprinter Benz bus (GW 8172-22) and a Nissan pickup (GN 3611-24) at Gomoa Mprumen Junction on the Winneba-Mankesim Freeway within the Central Area.

All 25 injured passengers are reportedly at the moment receiving therapy at Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital and Apam St Luke Catholic Hospital after the crash.

Talking to Adom Information, Apam District Hearth Service Commander, DO2 Anthony Kwesi Rhule, revealed that the Sprinter Benz bus was travelling from Accra to Cape Coast, whereas the Nissan pickup was heading in the wrong way.

The accident occurred when the pickup driver tried an unlawful U-turn at Gomoa Mprumen Junction. In line with DO2 Rhule, the Sprinter driver, who was rushing, failed to regulate the automobile upon noticing the pickup’s wrongful manoeuvre, resulting in the crash.

The Hearth Service Commander confirmed that each one 25 passengers luckily survived, regardless of the severity of the crash.

He cautioned drivers on the Kasoa-Cape Coast freeway in opposition to reckless speeding and dangerous overtaking, which frequently lead to accidents.

Moreover, he urged passengers to be extra vigilant, advising them to observe drivers’ behaviour and speak up against unsafe driving practices to help reduce road crashes.
