    Employment opportunities in Ghana not enough – GSS

    A brand new report by the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) has revealed that regardless that there are employment alternatives in Ghana it isn’t sufficient to soak up the rising variety of folks actively searching for work.

    The report, titled, “Nationwide Report on Productiveness, Employment, and Development”, revealed that the employment price, which measures the financial system’s labour absorption capability, has declined from 73.9 % to 55.7 % between 2000 and 2021.

    “This means that regardless that the Ghanaian financial system is creating employment alternatives, this isn’t ample to soak up the rising working age inhabitants”, it stated.

    In accordance with the report, in 2000, a complete of seven.43 million folks had been employed and this elevated to 10.2 million in 2010, representing 3.3 % annual employment progress over the interval.

    “In 2021, about 9.99 million folks had been employed. This represents a discount of employment of 0.7% annual common from 2010”.

    Regardless of the discount, the GSS identified that there are extra folks searching for first rate jobs however are unsuccessful.

    “Respectable work is productive work for ladies and men in circumstances of freedom, fairness, safety and human dignity. The idea of first rate work is anchored on 4 key pillars, particularly, productive employment, social dialogue, rights at work and social safety”, it stated.

    It added that one key component of first rate work is the supply of employment alternatives for a rising working age inhabitants.
