    U/East Minister calls for resetting of education system

    The Higher East Regional Minister, Mr Donatus Atanga Akamugri, has known as for a holistic overhaul and resetting of the nation’s training in the direction of nationwide growth.

    Mr Akamugri made the decision yester­day on the Nationwide Training Discussion board (NEF), held in Bolgatanga, the Higher East regional capital.

    “The challenges dealing with our educa­tional system require strategic priorities and a renewed sense of urgency and objectivity to handle them. There’s the necessity for consensus constructing on curricula reforms, infrastructure investments and different interventions to broaden entry and enhance high quality academic outcomes”, Mr Akamugri emphasised.

    Based on him, the theme for the programme: ‘Reworking Training for a Sustainable Future,’ aligned with the federal government’s resetting agenda, and underscored the necessity to combine sus­tainability into the nation’s curricula reforms and academic insurance policies.

    The North East Regional Minister, Ibrahim Tia, mentioned the poor implemen­tation of the Free Senior Excessive College coverage had posed a substantial chal­lenge to the tutorial system of the nation.

    Professor Avea Nsoh of the Univer­sity of Training, Winneba (UEW), lamented examination malpractices within the second cycle establishments.

    “The difficulty of exams malpractices within the second cycle establishments could be very worrying. You will have lots of college students who simply put together in the direction of copying to go.”

    He alleged that “the difficulty could be very alarming in Sunyani and different components of the Bono, Bono-East and Ahafo areas, the place college students solely pay enormous sums of cash and go into the exams halls to cheat within the last of West African Secondary College Certificates Examinations.”’

    Prof. Nsoh additionally claimed that “Headmasters or Headmistresses and lecturers encourage the act, and we’re doomed as a result of criminals and medi­ocre individuals are going to handle the affairs of the nation within the not-distant future.”

    Prof. Smile Gavua Dzisi, Committee member for NEF and chief of the Higher East and North-East areas staff, indicated that the tutorial dialogue would allow the Ministry of Training and authorities to make knowledgeable determination on restructuring and making strenuous efforts to salvage the woes of training within the nation.

    Catholic Bishop for the Nav­rongo-Bolgatanga Diocese, Alfred Agyenta, urged non secular leaders to help the federal government in revamping the nation’s training.
