    Pres. Mahama charges IGP Yohonu to tackle 3 major issues

    President John Mahama has tasked the Inspector Common of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, with actively addressing bribery and corruption, abuse of power, and indiscipline to uphold professionalism throughout the police service.

    He made this comment on Friday, 14 March, at Jubilee Home through the swearing-in ceremony of COP Yohuno as the brand new head of the Ghana Police Service.

    In his deal with, President Mahama acknowledged the rising instances of violent crime, cybercrime, fraud, and international terrorist threats.

    He emphasised the pivotal position of the police in sustaining legislation and order and highlighted the significance of fostering a cordial relationship between the police and residents:

    The police have to be seen not as an intimidating drive however as a associate in crime prevention, security, and improvement. Officers who serve and defend with empathy, equity, and respect for human rights earn society’s respect.

    President Mahama additionally urged COP Yohuno to deal with corruption whereas prioritising the welfare of officers:
