    Inspector Basic of Police (IGP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno has carried out a significant reshuffle inside the Ghana Police Service, reassigning over 100 senior officers.

    Amongst these affected are Superintendent Emmanuel Eric Gyebi and Superintendent George Lysander Asare, each of whom have been implicated within the controversial leaked tape that exposed an alleged plot to remove former IGP Dr George Akuffo Dampare.

    In keeping with an official letter sighted by Pulse Information, Superintendent Asare has been transferred from the Protocol Division to Judicial Safety on the Nationwide Headquarters, whereas Superintendent Gyebi has been reassigned from Gambaga within the North East Area to the Cybercrime Division of the Legal Investigations Division (CID) on the Police Headquarters.

    IGP leaked tape: Committee cites COP Mensah, two others cited for Professional Misconduct

    The leaked audio recording, which surfaced in 2023, uncovered discussions about eradicating former IGP Dr George Akuffo Dampare.

    The tape, which concerned a number of senior law enforcement officials and a former Northern regional chairman of the NPP, Bugri Naabu triggered a parliamentary inquiry into the conduct of the officers concerned.

    Superintendents Gyebi and Asare, together with COP Alex George Mensah, appeared earlier than the parliamentary committee investigating the matter.

    The committee, chaired by Abuakwa South MP Samuel Atta Akyea, concluded that the officers had engaged in misconduct, a severe offence below Ghana Police Service laws.
