    ‘Beyond Academic Skills, Beyond Classroom Learning’ Initiative in the offing

    Authorities will quickly rollout a brand new edu­cation initiative dubbed: ‘Past Educational Abilities,’ to equip college students with out of classroom expertise to allow them match into society after faculty, the Minister of Training, Haruna Iddrisu, has disclosed.

    The initiative, which is the federal government’s flagship professional­gramme for training supply, additionally goals at equipping college students with the required expertise and competencies past literacy and numeracy to make them practical on the planet of labor.

    The committee, to be chaired by the minister himself, additionally has the Chief Director of the MOE, Mrs Maamle An­drews; Technical Advisor to the Minister, Professor George Ok.T. Oduro; Director-Normal of the Ghana Training Service (GES), Professor Ernest Kofi Davis; Director-Normal of the Nationwide Council for Curriculum Assess­ment (NaCCA), Professor Yayra Dzakadzi; and Nationwide College Inspectorate Authority (NaSIA), Professor Azeko Salifu Tahiru, as members.

    Different members are Regis­trar, Nationwide Educating Council (NTC), Prof. Christian Addai Poku; Director-Normal, Techni­cal Vocational and Academic Coaching (TVET) Service; Dr Eric Adzore, Director, TVET; MOE, Rejoice Dankwa, Director, Pre-Tertiary, MOE; Nana Baffour Awuah, Director, PBME, MOE; Insah Shizu, Director, Normal Administration, MOE; Mavis Asare Donkor and Training and Improvement Guide, Inde­pendent, Dr Samuel Awuku.

    The Minister acknowledged that it was essential for the curriculum assessment to mirror on actual life points that will allow the youth meet the challenges of the twenty first century.

    “So we count on that your curriculum assessment will mirror actual life. And for example, I count on that into subsequent yr, President John Mahama must be launching a brand new flagship in training that can be themed: ‘Past Educational Abilities, Past Classroom Study­ing,’” he stated.

    Furthermore, Mr Iddrisu ex­plained that new curriculum had been grouped into 4 studying expertise which required crucial suppose­ing, creativity, collaboration and Communication.
