    Bretton Woods Institutions must coordinate policies for developing countries – Governor Asiama

    Dr. Johnson Asiama

    The Governor of the Financial institution of Ghana (BoG) Dr. Johnson Asiama has appealed to the Bretton Woods Establishments and different worldwide monetary establishments (IFIs) to coordinate their insurance policies for growing international locations like Ghana.

    He argued that such coordination will assist growing international locations in Africa promote Regional Company in addressing frequent challenges.

    “We urge the Worldwide Financial Fund (IMF), different IFIs, and regional our bodies to higher coordinate and align their monetary and technical assist to growing international locations, contemplating numerous wants and capacities”, he stated at IMF/World Financial institution 2025 Spring conferences in Washington, U.S.A.

    Dr. Asiama emphasised the necessity to selling regional cooperation to deal with frequent points and capitalize on collective strengths of African international locations.

    He cited for instance the significance of working collectively to deal with problems with local weather change.

    “Given the debt vulnerabilities exacerbated by local weather change, we name for enhanced collaborative efforts”, he careworn.

    Offering some suggestions, Dr. Asiama proposed bold but achievable and monitorable concessional financing choices, establishing joint financing mechanisms, and growing frequent coverage frameworks.

    As well as, he advocated modern financing options, comparable to blended finance and debt-for-climate/ SDG swaps, is essential for addressing each debt vulnerabilities and local weather dangers.
