    Court jails apprentice for camera theft

    The Amasaman Circuit Courtroom has sentenced an apprentice to a few years’ imprisonment in exhausting labour for stealing his coach’s cameras and different valuables.

    Benjamin Okyere was convict­ed for stealing two R10 Canon cameras value GH₵30,000, together with a silver bracelet and wrist­watch valued at GH¢500.

    His alleged confederate, Bernard Nwaeze, was arraigned for buying one of many stolen cameras, valued at GH¢18,000.

    Okyere denied the cost however was discovered responsible after trial and sentenced to a few years.

    Police Chief Inspector Freder­ick Awuah-Ansah informed the court docket, presided over by Justice Enid Mar­ful-Sau, that complainant, Francis Sarkodie, a photographer, resides at Achiaman close to Amasaman.

    Okyere, a labourer, and Nwaeze, a telephone repairer, each dwell at Nungua.

    On December 2, 2023, Sarkodie reported to Amasaman Police that Okyere had stolen his cameras, jewelry, and gone into hiding.

    Efforts to hint him failed till June 6, 2024, when police arrested each suspects following a tip-off.

    Investigations revealed Okyere offered one digital camera to Nwaeze for GH₵1,000 and despatched the opposite to his hometown, Peki, however police had been unable to recuperate it.

    Throughout questioning, each males admitted to the offence. They had been subsequently charged and arraigned.
