    Ghana, UAE sign $1bn deal to build Africa’s largest innovation hub

     A one-billion Innovation Hub is to be constructed within the nation as a part of efforts to place Ghana as the subsequent Synthetic Intelligence (AI) Hub in West Africa.

    The hub, to be assemble­ed in Ningo Prampram, is a partnership between Ghana and the United Arab Emirates led by Ports Customs Free Zone Company (PCFC) and G42.

    Consequently, the Ministry of Communication, Digital Expertise and Improvements on Thursday signed a Memo­randum of Understanding with PCFC to implant the challenge.

    The Minister of Commu­nications, Digital Expertise and Improvements, Samuel Nartey George, signed on behalf of the federal government whereas the Group Chairman of PCFC and Chief Govt Officer of DP World, Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, signed on behalf of his nation.

    In his remarks, Mr George stated the Innovation Hub to be funded by PCFC shaped a part of President John Mahama’s vi­sion of reworking Ghana into the subsequent AI hub of West Africa.

    He stated according to the imaginative and prescient to place Ghana because the AI hub in West Africa, President Maha­ma had launched the 1 million Coders programme to equip the youth with expertise and AI abilities.

    “And for us, as you prepare 1,000,000 coders, you must have jobs for these coders. Now how do you appeal to the roles? And that is the place PCFC and G42 are available in,” he stated.

    The minister indicated that the companions have been influenced by the 1 million Coders Programme and determined to determine the Innovation Hub in Ghana.

    He stated G42 had led the transformation of Dubai’s AI ecosystem and PCFC presently held over 11 Innovation Hubs in Dubai.
