    Prof. V. Antwi chairs 29th GUSA Games LOC

    The twenty ninth version of the Ghana Univer­sity Sports activities Asso­ciation (GUSA) Video games has been launched with the Native Organising Committee (LOC) duly inaugurated.

    Prof. Victor Antwi, former Professional Vice-Chancellor of the College of Schooling, Winneba (UEW), has been appointed Chairman of the LOC for the 2026 Video games.

    The 2026 Video games would deliver collectively student-athletes from 16 public universities throughout Ghana to compete in varied sporting disciplines, together with athletics, bas­ketball, soccer, hockey, volleyball, handball, amongst others.

    The competitors is predicted to serve not solely as a platform to have fun sporting expertise but in addition to foster unity and camaraderie among the many taking part institu­tions.

    In his handle, Prof. Antwi urged the LOC members to dedicate themselves to making sure the success­ful planning of the video games.

    He additionally urged all stakeholders to come back on board to make the twenty ninth version of the video games probably the most impactful since its inception.

    Prof. Stephen Jobson Mitchual, the Appearing Professional Vice-Chancellor, in a speech learn on his behalf, mentioned the College was honoured to be chosen as host for the upcoming video games.

    He reaffirmed UEW’s full dedication to delivering a extremely profitable occasion and emphasised the transformative potential of College sports activities in cultivating val­ues equivalent to self-discipline, dedication, and teamwork.

    He additional highlighted the College’s intention to improve current sports activities infrastructure in an effort to set new requirements for university-level sports activities competitions in Ghana.

    Mr Shaibu Ibrahim Tanko, the President of GUSA, expressed deep appreciation to UEW for accepting the accountability to host the 2026 Video games.

    He lauded the College’s funding in sports activities improvement and its efforts to create an environ­ment that nurtures future nationwide sports activities icons.

    Mr Tanko known as on all stake­holders to dedicate themselves to organising a very inspirational sporting occasion.

    The launch ceremony was attended by a number of distinguished personalities, together with Prof. Frimpong Kaakyire Duku, Appearing Professional Vice-Chancellor, UEW; Prof. Victor Antwi- former Professional Vice-Chancellor, UEW; Prof. Jonathan Ammah, Division of Well being, Bodily Schooling, Recre­ation and Sports activities; Prof. Emmanuel Osei Sarpong, Dean, College of Well being, Allied Sciences, and House Economics Schooling, Prof. Mrs. Rebecca Akpanglo-Nartey, Princi­pal of UEW Faculty of Languag­es; and Dr Mrs. Edinam Avoke, Dean of College students.

    The remaining are Dr Theophilus Mensah, Director of Sports activities, UEW, Mr Bawa Fuseini, Director, Nationwide Sports activities Faculty, Winne­ba; Mr. Shaibu Ibrahim Tanko, President of GUSA; Dr Timothy Okay.
