    Government seeks financial support from Diplomatic Community to fight illegal mining

    The federal government has appealed to members of the Diplomatic Corps for monetary and technical help to struggle the menace of unlawful mining within the nation.

    Mr Yusif Sulemana, the Deputy Minister of Lands and Pure Assets, made the attraction on the commemorative tree planting ceremony to begin the Tree For Life Reforestation Initiative in Accra.

    The nationwide initiative was launched by President Mahama in March 2025 as a part of an effort to plant thousands and thousands of timber throughout the nation.

    It introduced collectively all stakeholders within the nation to, amongst others, elevate consciousness of the significance of tree planting and environmental conservation. It’s also to boost biodiversity by selling ecosystem restoration.

    The Deputy Minister expressed the federal government’s unwavering dedication to environmental sustainability and local weather motion, expressing confidence that the Diplomatic Corps would help the initiative.

    Mr Maher Kheir, the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, expressed their dedication to the laudable initiative to revive degraded landscapes within the nation.

    Mr Kheir, who can also be the Lebanese Ambassador to Ghana, mentioned the Diplomatic Corps have been proud to face with Ghana to guard the atmosphere, saying, “Environmental challenges don’t respect borders.”
