    Government accountability series: 58 out of 64 radio stations have written to the NCA and started the process of regularizing via paperwork after President Mahama’s intervention – Sam George

    The Minister for Communication, Digital Know-how and Innovation, Samuel Nartey George, has revealed that 58 out of the 64 radio stations lately flagged by the Nationwide Communications Authority (NCA) have begun steps to regularise their operations.

    In response to the Minister, the Ministry had earlier directed the NCA to close down the 64 stations for working with out correct authorization.

    Nevertheless, President John Dramani Mahama later stepped in to request a 30-day amnesty for the affected stations to conform.

    Following the President’s intervention, the Ministry granted the amnesty, permitting the stations to right their regulatory standing.

    “Thus far, 58 of the 64 radio stations have written to the NCA and began the method of regularising by way of paperwork,” Mr. George said.

    He added that the 64 stations have been just one part of a wider compliance operation, declaring that the overall variety of defaulting stations is 210.

    He indicated that the continued frequency audit, led by the NCA below the Ministry’s course, is a part of authorities efforts to make sure correct use of the airwaves and accountability within the media house.

    Mr. George warned that there could be no additional public bulletins for the remaining defaulting stations.

    He stated enforcement measures will probably be utilized with out discover to guard state assets and uphold the legislation.
