    Breaking: Omane Boamah, Murtala Mohammed, 6 others confirmed dead in military helicopter crash

    Ghana is mourning the lack of two (2) outstanding ministers and 6 others following a deadly army helicopter crash on the morning of Wednesday, 6 August 2025. The victims embrace Minister for Defence, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, and Minister for Setting, Science, Expertise and Innovation, Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed.

    The tragic information was confirmed at a short press convention by Chief of Employees, Julius Debrah.

    The opposite victims have been recognized as Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, Deputy Nationwide Safety Coordinator; Dr Samuel Sarpong, former Minister for Meals and Agriculture and Vice Chairman of the Nationwide Democratic Congress; Mr Samuel Aboagye, a former parliamentary candidate; and three crew members of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).

    The incident occurred close to Adansi-Akrofuom within the Ashanti Area. The officers had been en path to the launch of the Accountable Cooperative Mining and Abilities Growth Programme when the Z-9 helicopter they had been travelling in went off the radar shortly after taking off from Accra.

    Emergency response groups had been swiftly deployed to the crash web site, the place the wreckage was discovered engulfed in flames. Pictures from the scene revealed the charred stays of the plane and victims. Authorities have but to launch a whole record of the deceased or injured.

    In his handle, Mr Debrah conveyed the President’s condolences and introduced that every one nationwide flags would fly at half-mast in honour of the deceased.

    “The President and authorities prolong our condolences and sympathies to the households of our comrades and the servicemen who died in service to the nation,” he stated.

    Investigations are presently underway to find out the precise reason for the crash.
