    GRA disputes NIA’s indebtedness claim, reacts to disconnection from NIA system

    The Ghana Income Authority (GRA) has refuted claims by the Nationwide Identification Authority (NIA) that it owes charges, resulting in its disconnection from the NIA’s Identification Verification System.

    In an announcement issued on Thursday, the GRA mentioned it was stunned by the allegations, clarifying that the purported debt seems to be a legacy legal responsibility inherited earlier than 2025.

    It defined that the unique transaction lacks “regulatory and governance approvals,” making it non-binding below present public finance and accountability requirements.

    The GRA additionally revealed that the NIA has operated registration desks inside GRA places of work nationwide for years with out paying lease or utilities.
