    FIFA condemns racist abuse of Semenyo, pledges support

    FIFA president Gianni Infantino has condemned the racist assaults focused at Bournemouth striker Antoine Semenyo.

    The Ghanaian worldwide was the sufferer of a racist slur throughout AFC Bournemouth’s Premier League opener towards Liverpool on Friday.

    Semenyo reported the incident to referee Anthony Taylor, who stopped the match within the twenty eighth minute earlier than shifting over to the sideline to talk with each coaches; Liverpool’s Arne Slot and Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola.

    The fan was promptly faraway from Anfield by cops on responsibility.

    In a press release reacting to the incident, Infantino mentioned “It’s completely unacceptable to see the racist abuse geared toward AFC Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo which led to a stoppage of their Premier League match towards Liverpool FC at Anfield final evening.”

    “Soccer has no place for racism or any type of discrimination – Antoine’s braveness and efficiency on the pitch, regardless of such adversity, is a robust instance of energy and dignity for gamers worldwide.”

    Though investigations into the matter have since commenced, Infantino has assured Semenyo of FIFA’s help.

    “The Gamers’ Voice Panel, established as a part of the 5 pillars towards racism adopted by FIFA Congress in 2024, can be in contact with Antoine and is monitoring these conditions intently. We’re dedicated to making sure that gamers are revered and guarded, and that competitors organisers and legislation enforcement authorities take acceptable motion.”

    “Everybody at FIFA, The Gamers’ Voice Panel and the entire soccer neighborhood stands firmly with Antoine and we are going to proceed to supply our unequivocal help to him, Bournemouth, the Premier League and The FA to make sure sturdy deterrents are in place, and actions taken, to eradicate racism and discrimination from our sport.”

    Regardless of the incident, Semenyo went on to attain twice to tie the match at 2-2, earlier than late objectives by Federico Chiesa and Mohammed Salah sealed the win for Liverpool.
