Former Nationwide Chairman of the New Patriotic Get together (NPP), Paul Afoko, has criticised the social gathering’s current determination to connect circumstances to its amnesty for suspended members.
Talking on Okay FM, he argued that reconciliation shouldn’t include restrictions. “In order for you everyone to return collectively you don’t give circumstances. It needs to be unconditional,” he mentioned.
The NPP final week introduced a basic amnesty lifting suspensions and halting ongoing disciplinary circumstances.
Nonetheless, members who forfeited their membership should apply for reinstatement and would stay ineligible to contest inner social gathering elections for 2 years.
Afoko, who himself was suspended in 2015 after inner disputes, believes the circumstances defeat the spirit of unity the social gathering claims to be pursuing.
The directive, signed by Appearing Nationwide Chairman Danquah Smith Buttey, is a part of efforts to strengthen solidarity forward of the 2028 elections.
