    Greater Accra regional minister directs project manager to remove illegal filling at Kpone-Katamanso lagoon

    The Better Accra Regional Minister, Hon. Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo, has directed a undertaking supervisor chargeable for the unlawful filling of the Kpone-Katamanso lagoon to take away all deposited supplies and restore the lagoon to its pure state inside one week.

    This follows experiences and video proof from residents of Kpone-Katamanso exhibiting parts of the lagoon being stuffed with soil and development supplies.

    On Sunday, she led a delegation of officers, together with the MCEs of Kpone-Katamanso and Ningo-Prampram, the Better Accra Regional NADMO Director, district NADMO officers, the Mayor of Accra, and the realm’s Member of Parliament, to examine the location.

    The Minister upon arrival confirmed the experiences and stated the exercise posed severe dangers, together with disruption of pure drainage, flooding hazards, and long-term injury to aquatic life and the atmosphere.

    The staff noticed that enormous portions of soil and development supplies had been dumped into the lagoon, altering its pure circulation and threatening the ecosystem.

    The Minister instructed that the remediation course of could be supervised by the 2 MCEs and the Regional NADMO Director to make sure compliance.

    She warned that failure to comply with the directive would appeal to strict enforcement measures, together with authorized and administrative sanctions.

    Hon. Ocloo harassed that defending pure ecosystems was a collective obligation and reaffirmed authorities’s dedication to implementing environmental legal guidelines and preserving the lagoon for each current and future generations.
