    The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has appealed for calm in Gbiniyiri within the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District following violent clashes which have claimed a number of lives and destroyed property.

    In an announcement revealed on Fb on Friday, 29 August 2025, Speaker Bagbin expressed deep concern over the battle and cautioned towards inflammatory feedback that would additional escalate tensions.

    Whereas urging restraint among the many feuding events, he appealed to all stakeholders, together with conventional authorities, to work collectively to revive peace.

    The clashes, which erupted on Sunday, 24 August, stem from a long-standing land dispute. At the least six (6) individuals have been killed, with a number of others severely injured.

    Stories recommend the violence escalated after the chief of Gbenyiri returned to his neighborhood. As a gesture of courtesy, the chief of Kalba instructed his son to escort him again.
