    President John Drama­ni Mahama has directed the Ministers of Lands and Pure Assets, Inside, and Attor­ney-Basic and Minister of Justice to arrest and prosecute any particular person or group of individuals engaged in unlawful mining anyplace within the nation.

    Equally, the federal government, President Mahama stated has not issued any lease to anyone to mine in any forest within the nation and any particular person discovered engaged within the act have to be handled in accor­dance with regulation.

    “Let me state categorically that this authorities has not given any particular person or group of individuals any authority to hold out any type of mining in forest reserves as not too long ago reported.

    He gave this directive on the Presiden­cy in Accra on Thursday when he swore into workplace 14 ministers made up of six sector ministers and eight regional ministers.

    In line with President Mahama it shall be the coverage of his authorities to ban the issuance of leases for mining in all forest reserves within the nation.

    On this vein, he stated the federal government would transfer promptly to revoke all leas­es issued for a similar objective below the earlier administration.

    The measures, he stated would come with a river guard which might make use of youth from communities affected by unlawful mining, cleansing and eliminating poisonous substances from the water our bodies, reclaiming mined out lands, and coaching small scale miners in sustainable mining practices.

    He stated steps had been taken to es­tablish the Ghana Gold Board in order to understand the total advantages of the bountiful sources the nation is blessed with.

    President Mahama expressed con­fidence within the new set of ministers to ship in the direction of the resetting Ghana agenda as he admonished them to serve in humility.

    The sector ministers are Dr Edward Omane Boamah, Defence; Alhaji Mo­hammed-Mubarak Muntaka, Inside; Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, Lands and Pure Assets; Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, Gender, Youngsters and Social Safety; Kenneth Gilbert Advert­jei, Works, Housing and Water Resourc­es; and Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum, Minister of State, Particular Initiatives.

    The regional ministers are John Kwadwo Gyapong, Oti; Tia Ibrahim, North East; Dr Frank Amoakohene, Ashanti; and Akamugri Atanga Modes­tus, Higher East.

    The remainder are Ali Adolf John, North­ern; James Gunu, Volta Area; Mrs Rita Akosua Awatey, Jap; and Madam Linda Akweley Ocloo, Better Accra.

    On behalf of the ministers, Dr Lartey stated it will not be enterprise as traditional subsequently “we intend to discharge our duties in humility, honesty and respect for all Ghanaians.”
