    Man jailed 20 years for defiling deaf, dumb girl

     The Tarkwa Circuit Court docket has sentenced a 30-year-old farmer, Kwasi Zachari, additionally known as Halidu, to twenty years’ impris­onment in arduous labour for defiling a 13-year-old woman who’s deaf and dumb.

     He pleaded responsible to the cost of defilement and was convicted on his personal plea and handed this jail time period accordingly by the courtroom presided over by Mrs Hathia Ama Manu.

    The prosecution, led by Police Chief Inspector Abraham Ayitey, stated the complainant, who’s a dealer and mom of the sufferer, resided at Wassa Bawdie Adonnoi within the Wassa Amenfi East Munici­pality, with the sufferer and Zachari.

    On December 17, 2024, at about 7:30 a.m., the complainant left the sufferer in the home to a funeral service in the neighborhood.

    He stated Zachari, who was then getting back from his landlord’s home, met the woman and engaged her with dialog by utilizing signal language.

    He continued that within the course of, Zachaari lured her into an deserted sawmill store within the outskirts of the city and had sexual activity together with her.

     Chief Inspector Ayitey stated after the act, Zachari gave the sufferer GH¢1.50 and took her again to the home.

    The courtroom heard that the complainant was later knowledgeable by two kids in the neighborhood, aged 5 and 6 years respectively, that they noticed the sufferer following Zachari in direction of the deserted sawmill store, so she shortly left the funeral grounds to search for her daughter.

    The prosecutor stated the complainant sought the help of her sister and the 2 kids in in search of the daughter and whereas they have been combing the world for the sufferer, they chanced upon Zachari and the kids pointed at him because the one they noticed together with her daughter.

    He stated the complainant, help­ed by her sister, held Zachari and demanded the whereabouts of the woman, to which he confessed to them that he had earlier had intercourse together with her within the deserted sawmill store.

    Chief Inspector Ayitey stated they arrested Zachari, took him to the Bawdie Police Station and re­ported the incident to the officers on obligation.

    Zachari was re-arrested and detained to help investigations, whereas a police medical report kind was issued to the complainant to ship the sufferer to the hospital for examination, therapy, and a report. —GNA
