    President Mahama could face impeachment over sacking of Akufo-Addo’s appointees – Kyei-Mensah Bonsu

    Former Suame MP and ex-Majority Chief, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, has warned that President John Dramani Mahama may face impeachment for allegedly violating the structure by dismissing public service employees appointed by former President Nana Akufo-Addo.

    In response to Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, these dismissals lack constitutional justification, making Mahama’s actions a breach of his presidential oath.

    The president swore an oath to uphold the structure. If a former president lawfully appointed public service employees, and also you are available and dismiss them with out simply trigger, then you could have violated the oath you swore.

    Talking on Oyerepa TV, he referenced Article 191 of the structure, which protects public service employees from unjust dismissal, removing, or demotion.

    What simply trigger has the president offered? These are public service employees, but he has dismissed them regardless of the structure explicitly prohibiting such actions. There was no simply trigger said within the dismissal letter. If no legitimate purpose has been offered, then the president has acted outdoors the structure.

    Ghanaian Parliament

    He additional argued that Parliament has the authority to provoke impeachment proceedings if a president violates constitutional provisions.

    In such a case, Parliament can summon him for violating the structure, and we are able to check with Article 69, which outlines the impeachment course of.
