    Amend DACF Act to enable administrator report directly to Minister – MP for Okere urges

     The Member of Parliament for Okere, Daniel Nana Advert­do-Kenneth, has referred to as for the modification of the District Assemblies Frequent Fund (DACF) 1993, Act 455 to allow the Fund Administrator report on to the Minister of Native Authorities and Chieftaincy and Reli­gious Affairs.

    This, he mentioned, would facilitate effec­tive supervision and disbursement of funds to the assemblies for develop­psychological functions.

    “At present the DACF Administrator doesn’t report on to the Native Authorities Minister, thereby making it troublesome to successfully supervise dis­bursement of the funds to the assem­blies, a few of whom will not be a lot endowed financially,” he elaborated.

    “At one level, the DACF Adminis­trator experiences on to the President and Parliament and this makes supervi­sion troublesome for the Native Authorities Minister,” he added.

    Mr Addo-Kenneth, who made the decision at a media briefing in Parliament, acknowledged that some assembles are finan­cially endowed with mineral deposits as such the distribution of the fund should be evenly distributed to make sure that the disadvantaged communities get sufficient sources to pronate.

    He referred to as for assessment of the method for the distribution of funds to allow extra funds to be allotted to city and peri-urban centres for develop­ment.

    He additional expressed issues over deductions from the funds at supply by the Administrator for procurement, thereby leaving negligible quantities for the assemblies for growth and mentioned such apply should cease.

    Bearing on methods to enhance tourism income, Mr Addo-Kenneth underscored the necessity for public sensi­tisation to whip-up curiosity in home tourism to rake-in extra revenue for the event of the native economies.

    He advised public-private half­nership association to develop the nation’s vacationer websites as a way to appeal to extra vacationers. —GNA
