    Appoint qualified PWDs to leadership roles …GFD to President Mahama

    The Ghana Federation of Dis­potential Organisations (GFD) has referred to as on President John Mahama to nominate certified Individuals with Disabilities (PWDs) into gov­ernment and throughout Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies.

    It mentioned that will be a demonstra­tion of his dedication to incapacity inclusion within the nation.

    A press release signed by Mr Joseph Atsu Homadzi, Nationwide President, GFD, talked about that whereas the con­stitution and Incapacity Act (Act 715) assured equality, the truth was a special story.

    It famous that PWDs have been signifi­cantly underrepresented in deci­sion-making areas, undermining the nation’s targets of fostering an inclusive society.

    “PWDs convey beneficial abilities, di­verse views, and lived expe­riences that may meaningfully form governance. Their inclusion in lead­ership roles not solely improves deci­sion-making but additionally displays Ghana’s dedication to equity, fairness, and justice.” Mr Homadzi pressured.

    In furtherance, the GFD mentioned leaders with disabilities offered insights that strengthened gover­nance, particularly on points impacting marginalised communities.

    Once more, it said that inclusive lead­ership aligned with Ghana’s obliga­tions beneath the UN Conference on the Rights of Individuals with Disabili­ties (UNCRPD).

    The assertion mentioned by prioritising incapacity inclusion, the nation might encourage different establishments and com­munities to embrace equality.

    The GFD underlined that it will launch public initiatives to point out­case the worth of incapacity inclusive management.

    Furthermore, it assured its steady dedication to working with gov­ernment officers, civil society teams, and different stakeholders to amplify the voices of PWDs and guarantee their lively participation in decision-mak­ing processes.

    ‘‘By taking concrete motion, Ghana can develop into a mannequin for inclusive governance, demonstrating that each citizen’s voice issues in shaping the nation’s future,’’ it added.

    The Ghana Federation of Disabil­ity Organisations is the nationwide um­brella organisation of Individuals with Disabilities in Ghana. —GNA
