    Cedi depreciates 5.3% to dollar in quarter one 2025 – BoG

    The Ghana cedi misplaced 5.3% in worth to the US greenback within the first quarter of 2025.

    In accordance with the Financial institution of Ghana, the native foreign money traded at a charge of GH¢15.53 in March 2025 to the American dollar within the interbank market.

    In January 2025 and February 2025, the native foreign money misplaced 5.3% and three.9% in worth respectively to the US greenback.

    Equally, the cedi depreciated by 9.20% to the euro on the interbank market in quarter one in every of 2025, going for GH¢16.75.

    For the pound, the cedi misplaced 8.2% in worth. It consequently offered at GH¢20.03 to at least one pound on the interbank market.

    Final week, the native unit closed 0.31% stronger week-on-week towards the US greenback within the retail market to commerce at a mid-rate of GH¢15.90 to at least one American dollar.

    This narrowed the year-to-date loss to 2.36%.

    Subsequent week, a staff from the Worldwide Financial Coverage (IMF) would go to Ghana to begin the fourth evaluation of the US$3.0 billion Financial Credit score Facility programme.
