    Court dismisses K.T. Hammond election petitio

    THE Excessive Courtroom in Obuasi, Ashanti Area, has dismissed an election petition filed by former Minister of Commerce and Trade, Kobi­na Tahiru Hammond—broadly often called Ok.T. Hammond.

    The petition appeared to chal­lenge the parliamentary victory of Godwin Animli Dorgbadzi Dorani within the Adansi Asokwa constituency.

    In a decisive ruling on Tues­day, August 19, 2025, Justice Kwabena Twumasi struck out the case and imposed a high quality of GH¢60,000 on Mr Hammond, describing the petition as “a waste of the court docket’s time.”

    Mr Hammond, who misplaced his seat within the 2024 basic election after serving as MP for over 20 years, was defeated by Mr Dorani of the Nationwide Dem­ocratic Congress (NDC) by a margin of 954 votes.
