    Deputy Co-ordinating Director advocates peace, dev’t in Karaga

     The Deputy Co-ordinating Director within the Karaga District Meeting of the Northern Area, Mr Salifu Mohammed Awal, has urged people and organisations to accentuate efforts at bringing peace, unity and improvement within the space.

    He stated there was the necessity to deliver collectively differ­ent ethnic teams to showcase their cultural heritage in direction of improvement of their respective communities.

    Mr Awal, due to this fact, urged people and organi­sations to harness the cultural heritage of the individuals for peace and progress.

    He recommended Altering Lives in Revolutionary Partnerships (CLIP), a non-governmental organi­sation working within the area, for working with the meeting to advertise peace amongst ethnic teams, together with Fulbes and Dagombas, within the area.

    Mr Awal was talking at an intercultural celebra­tion, organised for the Fulbe group and the Dagombas, at Bagurugu, within the Karaga District, on the weekend.

    The occasion was organised by the CLIP, below the Assist Venture for the Strengthening of Social Cohesion on the Degree of Strategic Cross-Border Territories (PARCS Venture).

    This was being organised in partnership with Performing for Life and funded by Agence Française de Développement, to foster unity and peace among the many Fulbes and Dagomba’s communities.

    Mr Sayibu Sulemana Wumbei, CLIP-PARCS Venture Officer, added that the occasion was to allow people from each communities (Dagombas and Fulbes) to share their wealthy cultural heritage to boost mutual respect, peace and improvement.

    He stated the interactions was additionally aimed to chal­lenge stereotypes, promote empathy and create a deeper understanding between the 2 teams

    Mr Wumbei additional indicated {that a} Dispute Decision Committee comprising 4 Dagombas and 4 Fulbes had been set as much as amicably attend to any farmer-herder points to make sure peaceable coexistence.

    Mr Alhassan Hassan, the Chairman of the Dis­pute Decision Committee, thanked CLIP and its companions for implementing the PARCS mission to deliver peace and progress to the world.

    The Fulani Chief within the space, Mr Seidu Musah, urged for sustenance of the mission to deepen peace and concord present between herders and the native individuals within the space.
