    Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu urges schools to respect students’ religious rights

    Minister of Training, Haruna Iddrisu, has urged college authorities throughout the nation to uphold the spiritual freedoms of scholars, emphasizing that no establishment has the proper to limit college students from training their religion.

    “Each Ghanaian little one is entitled to the total good thing about the rights and freedoms assured underneath the Structure, so is the kid and faculty,” he said.

    The Minister made this comment on Monday, March 31, 2025, whereas becoming a member of the Ambariyya Muslim sect in Tamale to look at Eid-ul-Fitr prayers.

    His feedback come amid considerations raised by the Ghana Muslim College students Affiliation (GMSA) over an incident at Saint Roses Senior Excessive College in Akwatia, Japanese Area.

    In a March 29 press assertion, GMSA expressed disappointment that the varsity had denied Muslim college students permission to go house for Eid-ul-Fitr, regardless of a directive from the Ghana Training Service (GES).

    Reiterating the federal government’s stance on spiritual freedom in faculties, Haruna Iddrisu declared:

    “I wish to announce as Ghana’s Minister of Training that each little one and each Ghanaian is entitled to the total good thing about all of the rights enshrined within the 1992 Structure, and due to this fact no college has the proper to disclaim any Ghanaian little one the proper to follow their religion.
    “All faculties should acknowledge and respect the proper of each Ghanaian little one to profess and follow their faith.”

    His assertion has reignited discussions on spiritual tolerance in some faculties, with many calling for stricter enforcement of insurance policies that defend college students’ rights to non secular expression.
