A businessman accused of defrauding a lawyer of GH¢192,000 has appeared earlier than the Accra Circuit Court docket.
Mahama Saani Razak, alias Main Zack Gariba Tanko, is alleged to have impersonated a navy officer and provided to deploy junior personnel to protect the complainant’s land at Kwabenya.
Police investigations later revealed he was not a member of the Ghana Armed Forces.
Razak has been charged with defrauding by false pretences.
He and his spouse, Hudu Fatimata Neina, are dealing with further fees of conspiracy to commit crime, to wit, defrauding.
Each pleaded not responsible.
Presiding Choose Mrs. Evelyn Asamoah granted bail of GH¢300,000 every, with two sureties to be justified with movable property.
The prosecution was ordered to file its disclosures and witness statements by July 30, 2025. The case was adjourned to August 8, 2025.
Chief Inspector Ebenezer Teye Okuffo, prosecuting, said that the complainant, a North Legon-based lawyer, was launched to Razak in March 2025 by a pal who claimed he was within the navy.
Razak, who claims to be a miner resident in Dodowa, allegedly took the complainant to Burma Camp and launched himself as a Main with the Navy Police.
He reportedly provided to “keep at bay” land guards from the complainant’s property utilizing junior officers.
The complainant agreed and paid GH¢192,000, utilizing cellular cash channels linked to Hudu and two different people, Abdul-Aziz Alhassan and Isaaka Dogoma.
Razak and Hudu subsequently didn’t honour the association and went into hiding.
Following enquiries to the Ghana Armed Forces, the complainant found Razak was not a navy officer and filed a police report.
In accordance with the prosecution, Razak denied the allegations in his warning assertion, whereas Hudu admitted receiving an undisclosed sum by means of her cellular account, which she withdrew on Razak’s behalf.
