    Food and beverage prices are falling; let’s push for national price reduction campaign – FABAG

    The Meals and Beverage Affiliation of Ghana (FABAG) has introduced that costs of key commodities throughout the sector are starting to fall, with additional reductions anticipated within the coming weeks.

    Talking at a stakeholder engagement with the Minister for Finance, the Govt Secretary of FABAG, John Awuni, confirmed that costs of important merchandise similar to sugar and rice have began to drop.

    “We now have decreased sugar costs by about 7% as of immediately [May 8, 2025], and rice costs have corrected by about 10%. As importers, we’re aggressively pushing costs down, however sadly, others within the worth chain aren’t responding,” Mr. Awuni said.

    He emphasised the necessity for collective motion to make sure these reductions translate into significant reduction for the general public.

    “We imagine this should be a nationwide effort. We’re calling for a nationwide marketing campaign for value reductions. If others additionally reply, it would replicate within the lives of abnormal Ghanaians,” he urged.

    The Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, recommended FABAG for its management and appealed to different commerce associations, together with the Ghana Union of Merchants’ Associations (GUTA), to comply with FABAG’s instance by adjusting their costs downward.

    “We’re seeing enhancements within the cedi and inflation is slowing. It’s time for companies to replicate this of their pricing. I attraction to GUTA and others to help this effort so Ghanaians can actually really feel the restoration,” the Minister remarked.
