The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) says it has reclaimed greater than 16 acres of prime airport land from the McDan Group of Corporations, following a “decisive judgement by the Accra Excessive Courtroom” in its favour.

In a statement launched by the corporate, it mentioned the judgement was delivered on sixth Might, 2025, and the ruling grants GACL full re-entry and possession of two parcels of land measuring roughly 10.63 and 5.66 acres located close to Kotoka Worldwide Airport, adjoining to and reverse Motion Chapel Worldwide.

The lands had been below the management of McDan Transport Firm and Airport Logistics Restricted, each subsidiaries of the McDan Group, since 2012.

The authorized motion, initiated by GACL in February 2025, accused the McDan entities of breaching land lease agreements and failing to pay excellent floor lease.

The corporate sought the restoration of $26,296 in amassed lease, together with a perpetual injunction to forestall any additional interference with the properties.

After contemplating the appliance for abstract judgment, the court docket dominated that the defendants had no cheap defence, awarding all reliefs in favour of GACL and ordering the businesses to pay GH¢50,000 in authorized prices.

This court docket victory follows earlier tensions between the 2 events. In December 2024, McDan Aviation’s operations at Terminal 1 of Kotoka Worldwide Airport had been suspended over monetary obligations.

Though these money owed had been ultimately settled, the dispute over the land remained unresolved till the court docket’s intervention.

GACL administration has welcomed the ruling, describing it as a major achievement within the firm’s ongoing effort to guard and get better public belongings.

“This repossession safeguards hundreds of thousands of {dollars}’ price of state belongings and reinforces our dedication to accountability and the lawful stewardship of public property,” a supply inside the firm remarked.

The success of the litigation has been credited to the coordinated efforts of GACL’s Authorized Division, led by Managing Director Mrs Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare, who has championed the corporate’s asset restoration agenda.

With the land now again below its management, GACL says it would develop strategic plans for the websites, doubtlessly geared in the direction of aviation-related enlargement or public-private partnerships as a part of a broader initiative to boost airport infrastructure and enhance income technology.
