    Galmasey: IGP Yohuno declares war on illegal mining

    The Inspector General of Police (IGP), COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has declared an all-out warfare on unlawful mining, generally known as “galamsey”, labelling it a major menace to nationwide safety and the atmosphere.

    Talking on the Regional Police Commanders’ Convention, the IGP underscored the pressing want to accentuate efforts to fight unlawful mining actions, significantly within the Western North area, the place such operations have escalated.

    IGP Yohuno revealed that armed criminals concerned in unlawful mining have perpetrated brutal assaults on harmless civilians, together with forest guards, with out justification.
