    GAR Minister pledges to strengthen sub-district structures

     The newly appoint­ed Larger Accra Regional Minister, Ms Linda Ocloo, has pledged to work tirelessly to enhance governance, sanitation, safety, and financial develop­ment within the area.

    She made this dedication throughout an interplay with the administration of the Larger Accra Regional Coordinating Council (GARCC) on her first day in workplace.

    She emphasised that her tenure would deal with implementing the President’s imaginative and prescient of resetting the nation and constructing a steady, inclu­sive, and affluent Ghana.

    She careworn the necessity to strengthen native governance, promising to work carefully with conventional leaders, non secular organ­isations, and different stakeholders to reinforce participatory governance.

    She assured Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) of assist to enhance income era and strengthen sub-district constructions, corresponding to zonal and space councils.

    To make sure efficient governance, she introduced plans for quarterly monitoring workouts and technical assist for MMDAs.

    Ms Ocloo outlined sanitation and waste administration as a key precedence and revealed plans to implement a complete waste administration coverage beneath the Na­tional Democratic Congress’ “Clear Up Ghana” initiative.

     This, she stated, would contain selling waste segregation, offering rubbish bins in public areas, and strengthening the sani­tation departments of MMDAs to enhance effectivity.

    She introduced that one of many key efficiency indicators for Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMD­CEs) could be their effectiveness in managing sanitation and waste.

    To encourage public partici­pation in sanitation efforts, she introduced the reintroduction of the Nationwide Sanitation Day and the Cleanest Metropolis Award.

    “A particular Regional Sanitation Day might be held on the final Friday of each month to advertise a cleaner setting and I make sure the enforcement of the Nationwide Sanitation Pol­icy by supporting MMDAs to im­plement sustainable waste handle­ment methods,” she defined.

    On safety and public security, she vowed to work carefully with safety companies to keep up peace and order within the area.

    She promised to accentuate the supply and alternative of streetlights to reinforce visibility, cut back crime, and enhance highway security.

    The minister additionally highlighted financial growth as a key focus, and meant to collaborate with MMDCEs to spice up native financial growth, with an emphasis on supporting ladies entrepreneurs by the Girls’s Financial institution.

    Furthermore, she additionally plans to facilitate commerce gala’s in collaboration with the De­partment of Agriculture, Ghana Tourism Authority, Ministry of Commerce, and Ghana Enterprise Company to advertise native industries.
