The Ghana Power Awards (GEA) has introduced the postponement of the Media Launch and Opening of Nominations for its ninth version, initially scheduled for Tuesday, twelfth August 2025, on the Airport View Lodge in Accra.

This determination follows the current tragic lack of distinguished statesmen and gallant troopers in a devastating helicopter crash — an incident that has solid a deep shadow of grief throughout the nation.

In a press release collectively signed by the Occasion Director, Ing. Henry Teinor, and the Chairman of the Awarding Panel, Mr. Kwame Jantuah, Esq., the Ghana Power Awards prolonged heartfelt condolences to the bereaved households and reaffirmed its solidarity with all the nation throughout this era of mourning.

The organisers defined that the choice, made after in depth consultations with stakeholders and companions, displays a united resolve to pause, mirror, and honour the reminiscence of the lives misplaced.

The power sector, like many industries throughout Ghana, has felt the profound impression of dropping people who performed instrumental roles in shaping nationwide coverage. The postponement underscores the sector’s deep respect for his or her contributions and sacrifices.

In alignment with the Authorities’s declaration of a three-day Nationwide Mourning interval and preparations for the inter-denominational state funeral on Friday, fifteenth August 2025 on the Black Star Sq., the GEA believes it’s each well timed and applicable to droop its scheduled actions.

A brand new date for the Media Launch and Opening of Nominations will likely be introduced after additional consultations.

As Ghana prepares to bid farewell to its heroes, the Ghana Power Awards invitations all stakeholders, companions, and the general public to hitch in honouring their sacrifice, legacy, and repair to the nation.

The Ghana Power Awards is a flagship initiative of the Power Media Group, celebrating excellence, management, and innovation inside the nation’s power sector.
