    Ghana mourns as state funeral for 8 fallen heroes of helicopter crash takes place today

    Ghana unites in grief immediately as a state funeral is held for the eight (8) fallen heroes who tragically misplaced their lives within the army helicopter crash at Adansi Akrofuom on Wednesday, 6 August 2025. The interdenominational ceremony will happen on the Black Star Sq. to honour their service and sacrifice.

    The crash occurred whereas the officers have been en path to the launch of the Accountable Cooperative Mining and Expertise Growth Programme (rCOMSDEP). Among the many victims have been Defence Minister Dr Edward Omane Boamah, Surroundings Minister Dr Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Alhaji Limuna Muniru Mohammed, Appearing Deputy Nationwide Safety Coordinator Dr Samuel Sarpong, and Nationwide Vice Chairman of the NDC Samuel Aboagye, a former parliamentary candidate.

    Funeral Preparations

    Ghana mourns as state funeral for 8 fallen heroes of helicopter crash takes place today

    The funeral planning committee, represented by Deputy Chief of Workers Stan Dogbe, introduced that the ceremony might be held in three phases. It’ll start with Bible and Qur’an recitals, adopted by the primary service, and conclude with the burial. The pre-burial programme will run from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.

    The Vice President is anticipated to reach at 8:50 a.m., with President John Dramani Mahama following at 9:00 a.m., marking the beginning of the state service.

    The three-hour ceremony will characteristic the studying of biographies of all eight (8) victims, alongside tributes from widows, kids, authorities officers, and institutional representatives. Following the service, the stays of six (6) victims might be taken to the army cemetery at Tse Addo for interment, with burial rites collectively carried out by the Ghana Armed Forces and the respective church buildings of the deceased.
