    Gov’t revokes all public sector appointments and recruitment made after December 7

    The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, has directed the instant revocation of all appointments and recruitments made within the public companies by the previous Nana Akufo-Addo administration after seventh December 2024.

    In a confidential letter addressed to heads of public establishments, Mr Debrah acknowledged that these recruitments violated established good governance practices and rules.

    It will likely be recalled that in a press release on seventeenth December, the transition staff of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) authorities, earlier than formally assuming workplace, pledged to reverse last-minute recruitments, funds, and promotions made by the previous New Patriotic Get together (NPP) administration, branding them unlawful.

    Subsequently, in a letter dated fifteenth January 2025, Mr Debrah instructed heads of state establishments to submit payroll records for all employees recruited after seventh December, no later than Friday, thirty first January 2025.

    The letter emphasised that this directive goals to make sure accuracy and transparency within the authorities’s payroll system. It acknowledged:

    Per Authorities pronouncements relating to close to end-of-tenure appointments and recruitments, I want to deliver to your consideration that every one appointments and recruitments made within the Public Providers of Ghana after seventh December 2024 don’t adjust to established good governance practices and rules.

    Accordingly, all Heads of Authorities Establishments are hereby requested to take the required steps to annul any such appointments or recruitment and submit a complete report on the actions taken to this Workplace by seventeenth February 2025.

    As establishments adjust to the directive, consideration will likely be on how the federal government implements additional reforms to streamline public sector employment and preserve a reputable payroll system.
