    Gov’t settles GH¢809m payment to Pokuase–Nsawam Highway contractor

    The Controller and Accountant-Common, Kwasi Agyei, has confirmed that authorities has disbursed GH¢809 million to the contractor engaged on the Pokuase–Nsawam Freeway mission as of August 4, 2025.

    The announcement comes as contractors have returned to the positioning to renew repairs on the vital street, providing much-needed reduction to commuters who’ve endured weeks of extreme site visitors congestion.

    This growth additionally coincides with the nearing deadline of a one-week ultimatum issued by the Ghana Non-public Highway Transport Union (GPRTU), which was set to run out on Wednesday, twentieth August.

    The Union had beforehand warned of a possible suspension of providers if the federal government didn’t make sure the contractor resumed work on the freeway.

    In an interview with Peace FM on Monday, 18th August, Mr Agyei clarified that the federal government had absolutely met its monetary obligations for the mission.

    “We made partial funds on twenty fourth July, adopted by one other on thirtieth July, and the ultimate fee was made on 4th August. In complete, we have now honoured the complete quantity of GH¢809 million as requested,” he defined.
