    Helicopter Crash: How Pres. Mahama ‘miraculously’ missed the tragic event – Rev Dr Wengam speaks

    Ghana continues to mourn the tragic army helicopter crash that claimed eight (8) lives, together with the Minister for Defence, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, and the Minister for the Setting, Dr Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed.

    The crash occurred on Wednesday, 6 August, close to Adansi-Akrofuom within the Ashanti Area, whereas the officers have been en path to the launch of the Accountable Cooperative Mining and Expertise Growth Programme.

    President John Dramani Mahama was scheduled to attend the occasion as Particular Visitor however delegated the duty to Dr Omane Boamah and others, who tragically misplaced their lives.

    Amidst the sombre temper, Common Superintendent of the Assemblies of God, Ghana, Rev Dr Stephen Y. Wengam, has shared particulars of how President Mahama skipped the programme and as an alternative attended the church’s 1st Nationwide Pastors and Spouses Prayer Retreat.

    In a video shared on X by EdHub, Rev Dr Wengam acknowledged social media feedback thanking the church for “saving” the President’s life. He clarified, nonetheless, that the church “did nothing.”

    Rev Dr Wengam revealed that final week, he was knowledgeable of the President’s choice to cancel his attendance on the church retreat with a view to honour an invite to Côte d’Ivoire’s Independence Day celebration.

    In accordance with him, the First Woman, Lordina Mahama, was not happy with the change in plans and insisted they attend the Assemblies of God retreat, which was scheduled for six August 2025.

    Though there was no direct affect on the President’s choice to overlook the tragic occasion, Rev Dr Wengam recommended that divine intervention might have performed a task.

    In the meantime, a three-day nationwide mourning interval has begun at this time, Thursday, 7 August, with President Mahama suspending all official actions and engagements for the remainder of the week.
