    I don’t see the value in it – Kojo Asante on prophecy directive

    Director of Advocacy and Coverage Engagement on the Centre for Democratic Improvement (CDD-Ghana), Dr Kojo Asante, has questioned the relevance of the brand new directive requiring that prophecies involving nationwide leaders and safety be formally submitted for assessment.

    Talking on JoyNews’ Newsfile on Saturday, August 16, he mentioned the measure does little to handle the true problems with accountability and credibility inside spiritual observe.

    “I don’t see the worth in it,” Dr Asante acknowledged, including that the state shouldn’t place itself within the place of assessing the “authenticity of prophecies and permitting folks to realize notoriety for a few of these issues.”

    He argued that such a transfer dangers undermining freedom of faith and will result in political interference in non secular issues.

    His feedback come within the wake of a directive from the Presidential Envoy for the Interfaith and Ecumenical Relations Workplace, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, issued on Sunday, August 10.

    The directive adopted a wave of viral movies within the aftermath of the August 6 army helicopter crash within the Ashanti Area, which claimed eight lives, together with Defence Minister Dr Edward Omane Boamah and Atmosphere Minister Dr Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed.

    It inspired that any prophecy or revelation involving high-profile political leaders, governance, nationwide safety, or public stability be submitted for pressing assessment.

    Mr Afriyie Ankrah has since revealed that over 200 prophecies have been submitted, but solely a handful advantage consideration.

    “By and huge, 70–80% is of no substance,” he defined, including that simply 2–5% could require deeper investigation. However Dr Asante maintained that this train was pointless, noting: “The state ought to concentrate on implementing present legal guidelines somewhat than entertaining tons of of prophecies that don’t have any bearing on governance.”
