Nationwide Chairman of the Nationwide Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has disclosed that he was initially meant to be on the helicopter that crashed within the Ashanti Area on Wednesday, August 6, claiming the lives of eight individuals, together with two cupboard ministers.
The deadly incident, which occurred within the Adansi space, resulted within the deaths of Defence Minister Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, Minister for Surroundings, Science and Know-how Dr Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, NDC Vice Chairman Dr Samuel Sarpong, and 5 others.
In response to Mr Nketiah, a sudden change in plans led to Dr Sarpong representing him on the journey to Obuasi for the launch of the Accountable Co-operative Mining and Abilities Improvement Programme (COMSDEP).

Talking whereas consoling one of many bereaved households, he mentioned,

Mr Nketiah inspired the grieving households to seek out consolation of their religion, describing the incident as a reminder of life’s uncertainties.
Reflecting on the tragic lack of Dr Sarpong and the seven others, he said,
In your human methods, you could be pondering that if I had not despatched Sarpong, perhaps he could be residing. However who is aware of? God may need determined that if that is his time, he will probably be knocked down by a trotro [commercial bus] in Accra. So, we don’t query what Allah desires to do. Mr Nketiah described Dr Sarpong’s choice to take his place as an act of selfless service to each the social gathering and the nation, emphasising that his passing leaves a deep void within the NDC.
Authorities are nonetheless investigating the reason for the crash.
