    ICU commends govt for introducing 24-hour economy policy

    The Common Secretary of the Industrial and Business Staff’ Union (ICU), Mr Morgan Ayawine, has counseled the federal government’s 24-hour financial system coverage, which goals to create new job alternatives for the nation’s youth.

    This initiative is anticipated to enhance revenue and social safety for Ghanaian staff.

    On the Ashanti Regional Council’s 2025 Dele­gates’ Convention in Kumasi on Friday, Mr Ayawine emphasised the significance of collective bargaining and harmonious worker-management relationships.

    He additionally pressured the necessity for equal partnership between unions and administration to drive enterprise profitability.

    The convention served as a precursor to the twelfth Quadrennial Delegates’ Convention, scheduled for August this yr.

    It supplied a platform for the area to take inventory, plan actions, and guarantee collective deci­sion-making that aligns with the Nationwide Union’s targets.

    Mr Ayawine acknowledged the union’s resilience in rebuilding itself after the COVID-19 pandemic.

    He urged members to stay dedicated to the union’s imaginative and prescient and targets.

    The Regional Secretary, Mr John Abayah, report­ed on the area’s progress, together with workers expan­sion as three new personnel have been employed to boost service supply to members.

    He stated there had been 25 per cent improve in membership from 3,600 to 4,500 by the tip of 2024.

    Mr Abayah referred to as on the members to actively help the present management to advertise the expansion of the union.
