    IGP urges Regional Police Commanders to ensure arrest of galamseyers

     The Inspector Common of Police (IGP), Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has urged Regional Commanders of the Ghana Police Service to make sure that the perpe­trators of unlawful mining, popularly often known as galamsey, are arrested and prosecuted.

    “Unlawful mining poses a sig­nificant safety danger, significantly within the forest reserves and mining communities. In areas just like the Western North, armed criminals have carried out brutal assaults on harmless folks, together with forest guards with out justification,” he famous.

    Mr Yohuno made the decision on the opening of the Ghana Police Re­gional Command convention held on the police headquarters, Accra, on Friday.

    It was attended by Regional Po­lice Commanders, members of the Police Administration Board, Senior Police Officers and members of the Ministry for the Inside.

    “This lawlessness should not be allowed to proceed. We’re declaring struggle on crime associated to unlawful mining, and I anticipate each Regional Commander to take deci­sive motion to carry perpetrators to justice,” Mr Yohuno emphasised.
