    KNUST launches Nkabom project to boost youth jobs in agri-food

    The Kwame Nkrumah College of Science and Expertise (KNUST), Kumasi, in partnership with the Mastercard Basis, has launched the Diet and Sustainable Agrifood Methods Collaborative (Nkabom) venture to sort out youth unemployment within the diet and agri-food sector.

    Talking on the inception assembly, Professor William Otoo Ellis, the venture’s Principal Investigator, emphasised the significance of collaboration.

    “This venture bridges the hole between training and employment, equipping younger individuals with important expertise for the agri-food industries,” he said.

    The venture’s training element, led by Dr. Abena Boakye, focuses on coaching and skill-building.

    “We intention to create a sustainable training system that hyperlinks concept with observe, producing workplace-ready graduates,” Dr. Boakye mentioned.

    Universities like KNUST, Ashesi College, College of Ghana, and McGill College will collaborate to supply coaching packages, with a deal with fairness for ladies, differently-abled people, and displaced youth.

    Professor Wilberforce Owusu-Ansah, entrepreneurship pillar lead.

    Professor Wilberforce Owusu-Ansah, main the entrepreneurship pillar, outlined the venture’s objective to help younger entrepreneurs within the agri-food sector.

    “We wish to make agriculture and meals manufacturing engaging to youth by offering mentorship, funding, and enterprise help,” he famous.

    Talking on behalf of the KNUST Vice-Chancellor, the Provost of the School of Arts and Constructed Atmosphere, Prof. John Bugri, expressed hope that the venture will turn into a beacon of success in shaping Ghana’s workforce and advancing sustainable meals techniques.

    The Nkabom Undertaking is constructed on partnerships with educational establishments, authorities companies, trade gamers, and NGOs.

    This collaboration goals to create expert professionals and entrepreneurs, contributing to the Mastercard Basis’s Younger Africa Works technique of making 30 million jobs by 2030.

    The venture contains seven educational establishments, together with KNUST, Ashesi College, College of Ghana, College of Well being and Allied Sciences, Koforidua Technical College, College for Atmosphere and Sustainable Growth, and McGill College.

    Non-academic companions embrace authorities, trade, and NGOs just like the Affiliation of Ghanaian Industries (AGI).
