Former President John Dramani Mahama has reiterated his unwavering dedication to championing reparatory justice for Africans and other people of African descent, because the African Union (AU) designates 2025 because the Yr for Reparatory Justice.
In a message to mark Africa Day 2025, Mahama—who serves because the AU’s official champion for the reparations agenda—emphasised his resolve to work collaboratively with African leaders and world stakeholders to attain lasting justice.
“The AU has declared 2025 because the yr for justice for Africans and other people of African descent via reparations,” Mahama said. “Because the AU champion for this important trigger, I’m deeply dedicated to working with you all to attain this goal.”
The AU’s declaration is a part of a continent-wide push to handle historic injustices stemming from slavery, colonialism, and systemic oppression.
