Former Deputy Minister of Commerce and Business, Michael Okyere Baafi, has refuted claims by the governing Nationwide Democratic Congress (NDC) that cement costs have dropped to GHS 82.

In an announcement shared on his official Fb web page, Mr. Baafi insisted that cement costs stay unchanged, stating categorically that the federal government has not held any discussions with producers to affect pricing.

“Ghana operates a free market financial system the place costs are decided by market forces, not political gimmicks,” he mentioned.

He defined that whereas the current appreciation of the cedi offers a possibility for worth reductions, the NDC has as a substitute resorted to spreading misinformation.

Mr. Baafi urged producers to reap the benefits of the strengthened cedi to profit shoppers and known as for management that promotes transparency and accountability.

“Ghana deserves fact, stability, and reasonably priced costs,” he emphasised, including that the main target must be on actual options slightly than propaganda.
