Black Stars defender Jerome Opoku says Ghana’s painful failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) has ignited a fair larger drive to succeed in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Ghana at present tops Group I with 15 factors, three forward of second-placed Comoros, and with 4 matches left, Opoku believes the crew’s starvation to bounce again is pushing them towards qualification.

“We’ve got a lot larger motivation now,” Opoku informed Flashscore. “Lacking out on the AFCON was an enormous disappointment for us, for the followers, and for the entire nation. That setback has given us a deeper starvation to make issues proper by qualifying for the World Cup.”

The defender, who starred in Ghana’s convincing win over Madagascar, insists the crew’s renewed focus is firmly fastened on securing a spot on the world showpiece.

“I’m 200% assured of qualifying,” he declared.

“That’s the aim, and we all know it gained’t come simple. However we’ve regrouped, and we’re decided to provide every part to remain on high and get the job achieved.”

With 4 essential fixtures remaining, the Black Stars are aiming to channel their frustration into gasoline for redemption on the street to 2026.
