    NDC’s Joseph Yammin urges Mahama to halt galamsey taskforce operations

    The Nationwide Organizer of the Nationwide Democratic Congress (NDC), Joseph Yammin, has requested President John Dramani Mahama to order the Inspector Basic of Police (IGP) and the Inside Minister to halt the operations of the galamsey taskforce within the nation.

    He accused the taskforce of partaking in extortion and corrupt practices within the discharge of their duties.

    In accordance with him, the taskforce was not genuinely combating unlawful mining however quite creating extra issues for miners and communities.

    Mr. Yammin mentioned most of the operations carried out by the taskforce had been solely centered on checking paperwork of miners with out addressing the true points.

    He famous that authorities should sit with stakeholders to discover a lasting answer to unlawful mining as a substitute of utilizing taskforces that find yourself harassing individuals.

    The NDC organizer added that failure to handle the problem correctly might result in extra unsolvable issues sooner or later.
