The Normal Secretary of the New Patriotic Social gathering (NPP), Justin Kodua Frimpong, has firmly rejected the Electoral Fee’s (EC) determination to conduct a parliamentary rerun in 19 polling stations within the Ablekuma North Constituency, insisting that the NPP candidate, AkuaAfriyie, rightfully received the 2024 election.

Talking at a press briefing on Tuesday, July 8, MrKodua argued that the NPP secured a transparent victory within the constituency and accused the EC of undermining the desire of the individuals by ordering a rerun.

“For us within the New Social gathering Patriotic (NPP), we’re resolute and we all know that our candidate, Nana AkuaAfriyie, received the elections with a margin of 414 votes. That is based mostly on details and figures. Sureterday, when the Nationwide Executive Committee met, we stated that not at all will we be intimidated.

“On no account will we go for a rerun. We is not going to go for any rerun. The New Patriotic Social gathering is not going to go for any rerun. We now have received the elections. What we’re asking the Electoral Fee to do is to observe the court docket’s directive to complete the collation and declare our candidate, AkuaAfriyie, because the MP for Ablekuma North,” the NPP Normal Secretary declared.

MrKodua described the EC’s determination as unjust and urged the Fee to behave in accordance with the details and proof offered in the course of the electoral course of.

The EC had earlier introduced a rerun of the parliamentary election in 19 polling stations in Ablekuma North, citing irregularities within the collation professionalcess—particularly, the absence of validation by some Presiding Officers on scanned outcomes.

Nevertheless, the NPP maintains that every one obligatory procedures have been adopted and that the occasion’s brokers, together with EC officers, had duly verified and signed the outcomes on the polling stations concerned.

MrKodua’s remarks add to mounting political rigidity surrounding the contested constituency, with the NPP adamant that any additional delay in declaring AkuaAfriyie as Member of Parliament for Ablekuma North constitutes a violation of the electoral mandate of the constituents.
