    Poverty declined marginally in Ghana to 25.9% in 2024 – IMF

    Poverty in Ghana declined in 2024 to 25.9%, the Worldwide Financial Fund has disclosed.

    This was after it reached 26.4% in 2023.

    The inhabitants residing in excessive poverty is measured on the worldwide poverty line of US$2.15 per day.

    The Fund mentioned the drop in poverty was primarily mirrored the improved development outturn in 2024—particularly in companies and to a lesser extent in agriculture—and the authorities’ continued efforts to develop the protection of and budgeted sources for Ghana’s social safety programme.

    This included the 4 highly-targeted programmes coated by the programme conditionality: the Livelihood Empowerment In opposition to Poverty (LEAP), the Ghana Faculty Feeding Program (GSFP), the Capitation Grant, and the Nationwide Well being Insurance coverage Scheme (NHIS).
