    President Mahama condemns assault on Joy News journalist during swearing-in ceremony

    President John Dramani Mahama has condemned the latest assault of a Pleasure Information journalist by army personnel, describing it as “unacceptable” and promising that these accountable will face sanctions.

    He made the remarks through the swearing-in ceremony of 4 newly appointed deputy ministers on the presidency.

    The journalist was reportedly protecting a demolition train at a warehouse close to Kasoa when troopers allegedly attacked him.

    The reporter, who was on task for Pleasure Information, was stated to be filming the operation and interviewing eyewitnesses when uniformed officers confronted him, bodily assaulted him, and briefly seized his gear.

    The incident drew sharp criticism from the media and civil society organisations, prompting requires swift justice.

    President Mahama assured the general public that the incident can be completely investigated and that any officers discovered culpable can be sanctioned.

    He confused that underneath his management, Ghana wouldn’t tolerate the abuse or intimidation of journalists.

    He described a free and accountable press as important to the nation’s democracy and stated safety businesses should see the media as companions in growth, not as adversaries.

    The appointees are Dorcas Affo Toffey for Transport, James Gyakye Quayson for International Affairs, Mohammed A. Sukparu for Communication, Digital Expertise and Improvements, and Prof. Dr. Grace Ayensu Danquah for Well being.
