The Authorities of Ghana has condemned the tried arrest of a JoyNews reporter and the assault of an eyewitness by a soldier throughout a latest demolition train involving properties linked to McDan Group.
The incident occurred throughout the demolition of buildings allegedly related to Daniel McKorley, often known as McDan, the Chief Government Officer of McDan Group.
The operation, which concerned army personnel, sparked public concern after a Pleasure information journalist overlaying the train was almost arrested, and an eyewitness filming the scene was bodily assaulted.
In a press release issued on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, the Minister for Authorities Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, stated the actions of the soldier have been unacceptable and don’t have any place in a democratic society.
“I’m directed by President John Dramani Mahama to unequivocally reaffirm his unwavering dedication to the liberty and security of journalists,” the assertion learn.
